Abstract

This research aims to provide a brief overview of the Jews, to identify the content of Surah al-Baqarah, which mentions the Jews most frequently, and to describe the characteristics of the Jews described in this surah. Through this study, we will be able to see the verses mentioned in Surah al-Baqarah about the characteristics of the Jews and whether the content of these verses is positive or negative. In addition, the history of the Jews, the period of Prophet Jacob and Prophet Joseph, the oppression and violence the Jews suffered from the pharaohs, and their deliverance from this torment and hardship through Prophet Moses will be discussed, and the past of the Jews will be narrated in the light of revelation. The Jews are a people who deviated from the teachings of the Torah, denied the prophethood of Prophet Muhammad, and did not follow the path of Prophet Jacob. Most of the attributes mentioned about the Jews in the Surah al-Baqarah are attributes that are condemned. The most important of these attributes is that when the truth came to them, they denied and rejected it and hid the truth from people. They changed the verses of Allah according to their desires. Thus, the Jews became a rebellious, stubborn, and wrathful community that persisted in rebelling against their Lord and prophets.
